A thousand years old. It still moves at a thousand miles per hour. Marrakesh is a bustling city in the heart of Morrocco that serves as a gateway to the southern Atlas Mountains and Berber tribes in the south of the country. The city’s sprawling old town streets haven’t changed since medieval times when the Arabic world was at the peak of its power. Today, these same streets offer a maze through some of the oldest bazaars in the world filled with spices, food, and handcrafted local goods.
As you wander the mazy streets, dodge madmen on scooters hustling their trade and shopkeepers hustling your ear for your wallet. When you feel like you might lose all your toes or all your dinar, step inside one of the many old royal palaces offering a peaceful glimpse into the city’s rich past and admire some of the most aesthetically pleasing patterns your eyes will see (If you are OCD you will have wet dreams). Once the stomach rumbles, hop into one of the many cosy riads converted into a restaurant for a relaxing tagine filled with Moroccan spice. From there, go back to your local riad to romance the night away
